Blog 3: Dig Pink (Influences and Outcomes)
Recently Titusville High School hosted the annual Pink Game between the volleyball teams of Titusville High and Astronaut High. These events are held between rival volleyball teams all throughout Florida in support of breast cancer research. There are many influences that could lead to organized events such as this. This game and event is for a "worthy cause". The proceeds of this game go to fight against breast cancer and this may influence people to organize and participate in these types of events. People may be emotionally influenced to participate in a Pink Game event because they have a loved one that is suffering from or died because of breast cancer.
Also there are the less heroic influences that could lead to the creation of these events such as the feeding of long lived rivalries between schools and teams. Many great outcomes can come from events like these. First of all the funds raised at Pink Games may help give scientists the resources and ability to find a cure for breast cancer. Harsh and competitive rivals may be able to overcome their differences for a "good cause". From the publicity and the many people these events attract, communities may even become more involved in the schools. The good thing about these events is that there aren't really physically negative outcomes. There of course are some cases where negative thoughts may result from the rivalry aspects of the game, but the majority of possible out comes are extremely positive and beneficial.

Cooperation allows people to organize ideas, actions, and thoughts of others to insure that a task or job is completed with efficiency and quality. In today's society almost everyone needs to have the ability to cooperate and interact with others if they want to have successful careers or even somewhat meaningful lives.
By playing volleyball, people gain life skills including the skill of cooperation. Volleyball is a team sport and it requires that ateam works together to win a match. The team cooperates many times by means of communication. Players must call the ball on the court, yell "mine" or "got it", in order to avoid collisions and to promote success. Players pass to and set to each other in order to hit the ball over the net and score a point. Players depend on their teammates and therefore must work with and cooperate with their teammates to be successful. If a player properly and frequently plays volleyball they will most likely pick up this important life skill of cooperation. They can then use this skill to become successful in many other important areas of life.
